Fishing with softbaits is immensely popular and for good reason, the catches on softbaits are absurdly good. People often use stingers in this fishing style. One person puts a treble hook in the belly of the softbait and fishes it that way, the other likes the treble hook to hang loose and uses a stinger connector. You attach this to your stinger and push the stem of the connector into the softbait. This way your treble hook hangs completely free and when you take a bite the leader including the stinger connector will be pulled out of the softbait. It is then easy to push it back into the softbait.
