The Spro Line Counter is a very handy tool for the sea and carp angler. The Spro Line Counter is easy to mount on the rod. The sea angler uses the Spro Line Counter to fish time and again at exactly the same depth where the shoals are located. The counter can only be used in combination with a reel. When the counter is placed above a reel, the casting characteristics deteriorate significantly. The counter is still widely sold to carp anglers, who use the Spro Line Counter to measure the distance to their feeding spot. These are anglers who cast out their line and therefore do not need to make far casts.
