The Wide Gape XX is two wire thicknesses thicker than the original Wide Gape hook. These hooks are well suited for the roughest conditions. The hook is designed based on the classic Maruta Kinrya model. Because the point is slightly curved inwards, the hook will pierce quickly and provide a good hold. The ultra sharp point completes this hook.
The eye of the hook is bent 15 degrees inwards, which makes it easy to turn the hook towards the lower lip. This line aligner effect can be further enhanced by adding a piece of shrink tube over the eye of the hook.
The Wide Gape is a classic model used by many top anglers today. This hook has many big fish to its name. Even England’s largest carp named ‘Two Tone’ has been caught on this hook.
